Hello all, brand new member here. Just want to start by saying "you guys are awesome!". Hunting down specific crc's can be a very frustrating experience. Specially where PSP is concerned. Between removing the padding, making cso's and cfw patches, it's almost impossible to find untouched iso's. I'm sure nds is the same (I may work on that sometime in the future). Just sticking to PSP for now.

I am working on a usa only set and I need 15 PSP and another 19 PSN. Before I get to that though, I have a couple of questions I hope you guys can help me with. I notice this thread is almost all nds. Are people more inclined to get the no-intro set these days? I always assumed that the no-intro "proper" dumps would match what was in advanscene. BTW, from a glance, none of my PSP iso's seem to have the "proper" tag in EvoCRC! I just thought that tag was only for nds or something. Are there really that many badly dumped PSP games? Does no-intro have a higher percentage of proper?

I have used clrmamepro before and can go no-intro if need be, I just find EvoCRC so much easier to use. It also gives you total control over naming scheme... and it'll grab the nfo which you can use in your rebuilt archives. How easy is it to do a specific region with clrmamepro? Am I gonna end up with 5 bad dumps for every game sort of thing? Any insight you could give me would greatly help.

Anyway here's my first list:

3304 - Tony Hawk's Project 8 (v2)(Greatest Hits) (USA)(TCA)
3281 - FIFA Soccer 11 (v2) (USA)(PLAYASiA)
3280 - FIFA Soccer 13 (USA)(PLAYASiA)
3267 - Marvel Ultimate Alliance (v2)(Greatest Hits) (USA)(PLAYASiA)
3266 - Final Fantasy (USA)(PLAYASiA)
3265 - SBK Superbike World Championship (USA)(PLAYASiA)
3230 - Sweet Fuse - At Your Side (USA)(ZER0)
3227 - Class of Heroes 2 (USA)(ABSTRAKT)
2947 - Growlanser - Wayfarer of Time (USA)(PLAYASiA)
2805 - Monster Hunter Freedom 2 (USA)(PLAYASiA)
2404 - EyePet (USA)(pSyPSP)
2366 - NBA 2K11 (USA)(pSyPSP)
1493 - Secret Agent Clank (Asia) (USA)(DMU)
1441 - SNK Arcade Classics Volume 1 (Asia) (USA)(PSN)
1240 - Silent Hill Origins (Asia) (USA)(pSyPSP)

Thanks for your time.

Thanks for your introduction/information/explanation. ;)

Regarding your questions... I don't know for sure but I guess No-Intro has a (much) larger (active) community than Advanscene. How many people do the db entries at Advanscene? I'm quite sure No-Intro has way more "datters". Besides, there are people at No-Intro who dump their own games. I don't know the situation at Advanscene. I also assume that updates are (much) more often at No-Intro. And last but not least, with "Dat-o-Matic", you have a great tool producing dats based on the No-Intro db. But to be honest, I don't know Advanscene too well... I only do some Advanscene collecting for sharing purposes for some months but started collecting No-Intro releases many years ago. ;)

Regarding "proper" releases: At least as for your request, I think four of your missings were bad dumps whereas No-Intro has replaced those dumps with proper ones. But considered relatively, the (No-Intro) NDS set, for example, has much more bad dumps than the (No-Intro) PSP one, according to Dat-o-Matic.

I can't comment on EvoCRC as I haven't used it so far. I can only tell you that Dat-o-Matic can generate "parent-clone" datfiles. With those and clrmamepro, you should be able to do a region specific romset. However, I just read about it in the past, so for further help you should make a separate thread or pay a visit to the No-Intro forums. ;)

Thanks a lot for that!

Just as an update, I am done with EvoCRC! Seems it corrupted a game on me:

2812 - Silent Hill Origins (USA)(PLAYASiA)

It must have happened during a rebuild of the archive. Subsequent scan found different crc and moved it to unknown folder. I navigate to the folder and try to extract the image... corrupted! I can't risk further corruption until I have a proper backup.

Also, upon further investigation of the different sets, I am now more inclined to go no-intro. Seems that their goal is to have the purest dumps available. Whereas with ADVANsCEne the "sCEne" part of their name tells the tale. They seem to have some misguided desire to keep scene files intact. I never really understood peoples desire to keep these cryptic short naming schemed files. Not to mention all the bad dumps. You can find "Fix Packs" but then you have to keep those too, and apply when needed... everytime!

In a "usability" sense, I'll take a "pure" fully named iso in a zip/7zip format over any scene crap. I am talking spaces and everything! In this day and age, if your PC can't handle spaces or long filenames, it's time to freakin' upgrade. LOL

Since I am only missing that one game now, I may as well finish it up, make a backup, then see what I can rebuild into no-intro from it. I still have 19 PSN to get as well if you're up for it. Thanks again for helping me with this.

Here is your "fixed corrupted" iso:

#2812 - [You are not allowed to view links] Register or Login [717 MB]

As I said, I'm not really into Advanscene but I think they don't keep "cryptic" titles (= original scene file names) in their dats - or did you refer to scene releases in general?

Well, as for collecting, I guess it's difficult to call this or that "reasonable" or question the "sense" of doing so. I assume people just like collecting things. I also (mainly) collect some Nintendo scene releases but you're right, in terms of "usability", you should just go with No-Intro, for example.

Some weeks/months ago, I lost quite a large amount of No-Intro PSP isos, (too,) when I tried converting zip -> 7z (if memory serves me right). I was using clrmamepro and I think it seemed the program froze so I killed the process. Maybe I'm confusing something right now and I "just" chose the "wrong" options... In the end I learned it might be a good idea having a backup when "messing around" with your collection or at least don't let programs automatically delete your files but do it manually if you're about to work on some more and/or bigger files.

Thanks again,

Some numbers for anyone wondering. The no-intro (USA),(USA, Asia) filtered dat has 635 entries. I scanned the advanscene set rebuilding it with clrmamepro. I then painstakingly applied all the patches from DUMPS_FIX_PACK_1-6_iNTERNAL_PSP-PLAYASiA. This resulted in 606 matches leaving only 29 missing. Of those 29, 13 are "demo", "beta", or marked "PSN & Store". Not even sure what that last one is doing in the dat. Doesn't PSN have it's own dat? It's only one game (Patapon 2) and a version already exists in the dat. That only leaves 16 left to get. I do have a fixdat but since I don't need them all I will just post a miss list.

50 Cent - Bulletproof - G-Unit Edition (USA) (v1.02)
Ben 10 - Alien Force (USA) (En,Fr,De,Es,It) (v1.01)
Despicable Me - The Game (USA) (En,Fr,Es)
Downstream Panic! (USA)
EyePet (USA) (En,Fr,Es,Pt)
FIFA Soccer 09 (USA) (En,Es)
God of War - Ghost of Sparta (USA) (En,Fr,Es) (v2.00)
Grand Theft Auto - Vice City Stories (USA) (v1.03)
Hot Shots Golf - Open Tee 2 (USA) (FW3.96)
My Spanish Coach (USA) (v1.01)
NCAA Football 2009 (USA)
Need for Speed - Shift (USA) (En,Fr,Es)
Shrek the Third (USA) (v1.01)
Smart Bomb (USA) (v1.03)
SSX - On Tour (USA) (En,Fr,De)
Tom Clancy's EndWar (USA) (v1.01)

Let me know if you would rather the fixdat or want me to edit crc's into the post.

Providing fixdats and hash values is always a good idea. ;)

Now that you are asking for No-Intro releases (right?), you should edit your last post and make a new one in the specific (PSP Portable) No-Intro sub forums. (We're in "Scene Releases" here.)

Edit: As for the "PSN & Store" release, I can't tell you why it's not in the PSN dat. Of course, you could ask that on the "official" No-Intro forums. ;)
