Another lesson learned.
If the rom is clearly divided by [1024] (Zandro knows), then the rom "HAVE" no header. If not, then you have a 16 Byte header... but you know now.
just not to be bad, i just proclaim to not to use search anymore for others than myself. Its easy. If you got almost fullsets, your missings are often posted together in one.

For checking purposes, Nintendo - Nintendo Entertainment System with header.dat may be useful to some of the users in this thread?

Regards,

Getting some differences:

Championship Rally (Europe)
Dirty Harry (USA)
Gun Nac (USA)
Joe & Mac (USA)
Kiwi Kraze - A Bird-Brained Adventure! (USA)
Legend of Zelda, The (USA) (Rev A) (GameCube Edition)
Legend of Zelda, The (USA) (Rev B) (GameCube Edition)
Low G Man - The Low Gravity Man (USA)
Mach Rider (Japan, USA) (Rev A)
Mario Bros. (USA) (GameCube Edition)
Mega Man 3 (USA)
Ninja Gaiden II - The Dark Sword of Chaos (USA)
Ninja Gaiden III - The Ancient Ship of Doom (USA)
Pinball (USA) (GameCube Edition)
Roger Clemens' MVP Baseball (USA)
Simpsons, The - Bart vs. the Space Mutants (USA) (Rev A)
Street Fighter 2010 - The Final Fight (USA)
Super Mario Bros. 2 (USA) (Rev A)
Super Mario Bros. 2 (USA)
Wurm - Journey to the Center of the Earth! (USA)
WWF Wrestlemania Steel Cage Challenge (USA)
Zoda's Revenge - StarTropics II (USA)

Most of the differences seem to be where my copy has vertical mirroring set in the header whereas your version has horizontal mirroring (resulting in a difference of 1 byte).
Also, my copy of Championship Rally (Europe) is set to 'PAL' whereas your version isn't (also 1 byte difference).

And this one doesn't make any sense: Simpsons, The - Bart vs. the Space Mutants (USA) (Rev A)
Your version has vertical mirroring, but Simpsons, The - Bart vs. the Space Mutants (USA) has horizontal mirroring

How can we be sure that your headers are the correct ones?

Use [You are not allowed to view links] Register or Login to verify

Not all carts had 'fixed' mirroring, many were controlled by the mapper.
I'm not sure how emulators use a mapper versus a header flag, but as a general rule, a horizontal scrolling (platformer) game should use vertical mirroring, and a vertically scrolling or multi- directional game should use horizontal mirroring.

I've personally set all europe region dumps to use a PAL flag in the header to force 50hz (FPS) rather than NTSC 60. Maybe my collection was shared at some point - I don't know of many people utilising the pal setting in the header.

edit: trying [You are not allowed to view links] Register or Login now with bootgod's latest DB. But it's changing a lot of headers compared to derebo's datfile. I'll post the results when the tool finishes.

No, I didn't have much luck either when I tried it years ago.

It does specify mirroring in the database, but IIRC, a vertical soldered pad means horizontal mirroring.

Simpsons, The - Bart vs. the Space Mutants has mapper controlled mirroring, hence hor/vert isn't specified.
As I stated above, since it's a horizontal scroller, it should be using vertical mirroring.

For e.g.
Slalom - [You are not allowed to view links] Register or Login - Mirroring = Vertical
In Nestopia - Solder Pad:   H:1 V:0 would mean vertical mirroring.

That sounds kinda arbitrary to me.. I've ran the script and now the following roms aren't matching derebo's datfile:

Action 52 (USA) (Rev A) (Unl)
Action 52 (USA) (Unl)
Alien Syndrome (USA) (Unl)
Days of Thunder (USA)
Death Race (USA) (Unl)
Double Dragon II - The Revenge (USA)
Fantasy Zone (USA) (Unl)
Formula 1 Sensation (Europe)
Gauntlet (USA) (Unl)
Gauntlet (USA)
Goal! Two (USA)
Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (USA) (Unl)
Jimmy Connors Tennis (USA)
Karnov (USA)
King Neptune's Adventure (USA) (Unl)
King's Quest V (USA)
Mario Bros. (World)
Mr. Gimmick (Europe)
Ms. Pac-Man (USA) (Unl)
Nintendo World Championships 1990 (USA)
Pac-Mania (USA) (Unl)
Pyramid (USA) (Rev 1) (Unl)
R.B.I. Baseball (USA) (Unl)
R.B.I. Baseball (USA)
R.B.I. Baseball 2 (USA) (Unl)
R.B.I. Baseball 3 (USA) (Unl)
Racermate Challenge II (USA) (v3.11.088) (Unl)
Racermate Challenge II (USA) (v6.02.002) (Unl)
Rad Racket - Deluxe Tennis II (USA) (Unl)
Ring King (USA)
Simpsons, The - Bart vs. the Space Mutants (USA) (Rev A)
Super Mario Bros. + Tetris + Nintendo World Cup (Europe)
Super Spike V'Ball + Nintendo World Cup (USA)
Super Sprint (USA) (Unl)
Tecmo World Cup Soccer (Europe)
Toobin' (USA) (Unl)
Trolls on Treasure Island (USA) (Unl)
Vindicators (USA) (Unl)
Where in Time Is Carmen Sandiego (USA)
Yoshi (USA)

I also found this list: [You are not allowed to view links] Register or Login

For example, Action 52 is horizontal according to that list.. Bootgod has it mapper controlled, so the python script sets it to horizontal.. I guess in your own custom set you changed it to vertical (and that's also the one that derebo adopted in his datfile), so that explains why there are differently headered versions out there. It would be nice if we could agree on 1 correct header for each game and weed out any conflicts.

There's also other differences. For instance, Ring King has mapper 209 according to Bootgod's DB, but the tuxnes list and existing ROM copies have it as mapper 4.
And Chiller (USA) (Unl) should have mapper 11 according to Bootgod's DB, but the no-intro header has mapper 0 for USA (but 11 for Australia region)
