30TB is the REAL limit of 1fichier
« on: May 29, 2017 - 14:17:21 »
Some people here with amazing redump/no-intro romsets have been using 1fichier, like myself for 4 years already.

This year they started to "thread" people for unfair use. Read "unfair" as you are using too much space.

They never answered me what was the real limit of the service's storage but deleting files and receiving messages (and reading other people experience) it seems 30TB is the real limit.

Why? It seems (nothing official, of course, they refuse to answer this simple question with the fair use crap) it is 1€ per TB. 30€/year is the official price of 1fichier (one of the plans). I havent ever payed 30€, all those 4 years have been 10, 10, 3 and 10, in sales. But thats what they use to do the maths.

Just a reminder to pci130, s4nQy29A and AlvRo. They probably have twice of that space. If you havent recieved any message yet you will eventually (words of 1fichier). Its a shame, coz they have an amazing collection of not-so-popular stuff but thats what we have.

On my first account 1fichier I have 55To and I did not receive mail.
On my second account 1fichier  I have 20To I received an email.

The difference between the two accounts is that on a 55 TB account I am active with shares and uploads.

So I deduce that if you do not want to have an email you have to use the account and not like I did with my account to 20To touch it every 6 months.

@pci130

Now really? I already bothered what to do in the coming weeks because of that "holy" boundary...
So let's just wait and see what happens?

Can other people confirm your experience?

While I understand that's not possible to really offer something in an unlimited amount, I still think they somehow betray their customers because they clearly state "unlimited storage" and I didn't find the slightest note about "fair use" regarding disk usage anywhere on their website...
Of course, 30 TB is not bad at all but just tell us about the truth, 1fichier:-\
- PW = "romshepherd"
- Recommended download tool = "jDownloader"
- Archive with ".part"? ALL parts needed!
- Please provide hash values/fixdatfiles with requests!
- Please report back corrupt/incomplete uploads!

I use my account frequently but i do not share the files. So that could be the case. I guess thats another of those "fair use" clauses (yeah, whatever).

But it is great to hear that your collections are "safe", at least for now.

Amazon have done pretty much the same move, it seems. The unlimited stuff have not disappeared but now it cost 1200€/y.

the same with UptoBox:
Your Uptobox account reached 21TB of files with lot of them never downloaded (download ratio last month: 0.06%).
As our TOS said, Uptobox reserves the right to limit all accounts abusing our service (storage space, account sharing...)
If you want to keep all your files, please increase the number of downloaded files on your account or it will be limited soon (all files never downloaded since 7D will be deleted next week).

They wiped my account to 600GB :/

it seems, that 1fichier has better rules with that issue.

I have about a 13TB Hyperspin Collection. If I'm following this discussion correctly.... this 1fichier is a safe place to upload and store it all?

I'm currently looking for online backup, so that would be awesome.
