UnExoticA & other Music collections
« on: July 23, 2017 - 23:10:35 »
Hi all,

Does anyone here love music from retro games, demos and stuff as much as me?
HVSC & ASMA are easy to get.
UnExoticA is a bit harder, but possible. The problem here is, I cannot find DATs anywhere.
Can anyone help?
Do you know of further collections and where to get them and their DATs?

Many TIA,
Duke

Thanks, I will try that.
Are these kind of official?
Maybe I can create an updated one out of this and the updates from the website.

well, they are not made by UnExoticA,
but they are the only ones i know of. and all are made by "AnimalFat", who also made other music dats like "OverClocked ReMix" , "Remix.Kwed.Org" and a few more. they should be reliable. but as i said, i am not into music collections :) maybe others can tell you about how valuable they are. good luck

Ok, guys.
I have very much looked into UnExoticA stuff and formats and other music collections as well.

UnExoticA problem:
I have the most recent full collection, but the folder structure carries more info than the DATs. For example the files are well sorted into composer name folders. There are also provided additional infos (text files) and even some pix of composers and tracklists, if a format is a packed one.
I got two variants of DATs. One contains the SHA-1 for the original archive files packed in .lha. The other contains the hashes of all files within the packed files, but loses the info of the original archive itself.
I have checked all files with the given DATs and everything is in the collection (except the replaced ones) and matches the DATs.

So I decided, not to keep the structure of the old DATs and just make new ones based on the folder structure containing the info files as well.
I'm not done yet, but I hope to get it finished by tomorrow.

Hi again.

After many cons and pros I decided to make additional DATs with the Sets only like the old DATs were.
But what can I say, because of various name clashes it would just not be possible without renaming the sets. As I really like the structure as it is, I don't want to rename them.
Now the Sets are composer sets with compressed tunes (still portable to the Amiga without recompression) and additional infos in them.
Have a look yourself and tell me, if you like it. And please report errors, so I can fix them.
So finally, here are the DATs.

BR,
Duke

During my exploration of the exotica site I found the "Lost In Translation" project:

This includes a few soundtracks from Arcade machines, so I thought I could make a DAT for them.
The files can be downloaded here:

The DAT is attached.
And again, please report errors.

Duke

And here is another UnExoticA one for the purists containing only the tunes without all the info stuff.

I have started work on a few Sega Music Collections.
It costs me a huge amount of time, I didn't think of, but here is the first one (more to come):
It's a collection of tunes from the Sega SG-1000.
The files can be got completely from smspower.org and the DATs are attached.
Report errors as always and have fun.

BR,
Duke

EDIT:
The version date of this DAT is actually wrong. Correct is 2016-07-08, but the content is the same, so just don't bother.

This time I have a bit different one.
These are tunes made with the Yamaha OPL chip, also known as Adlib.
It's not really game music, more Demos and stuff.
The files are completely from opl.wafflenet.com
Have fun :)

Duke
