Get total file sizes (and other info) from dats?
« on: April 13, 2018 - 13:41:33 »
I may be missing something obvious, but I wonder if there is any tool (or way) to read dats and exctract information from them like total file sizes or other fields that are nowadays added in the dats and give extra information (like a dump's origin).

If there is no such tool, it is definitely something useful.

Maybe functionality to add to upcoming RV?

CMP can create HTML reports (have/miss sets and roms, size should and size you miss).

Hi,

I use Datinate ([You are not allowed to view links] Register or Login) to check sizes and so on at dat level. Just be aware that some files do not have sizes in dat files (many chds for example)

Notepad++ if need to check further data or edit

Romvault already displays many info at rom/file level (tags, ...)

DATinate is not bad. I actually had that already and forgot about it. :D
(which is what happens with things that stop getting developed)

It hits some weird limits when folders are too many (for example it cannot even parse complete TOSEC-ISO).

I get to hock my wares again. SabreTools can do combined statistics including total uncompressed size which seems to be what you're asking for, unless I am more tired than I thought.

Can't get it to run here on W10 64bit.

Strange... it's ok with W10 64bit on my PC. (datinate 1.2.3)
Requirements: .NET Framework 4.0 or higher

DATinate.exe md5 : 9a55ed5bea54eaed61b7fd1e4ebea409
