NAS updates for Emulation Servers
« on: June 04, 2018 - 01:44:37 »
Important general information for those of you who use Windows 10 with a NAS to support all of your emulation software.

Microsoft as of Windows 10 v1803 has deprecated SMB v1.

What this means is that you have to go into your NAS settings and configure your network to accept lowest profile to SMBv2.
If you do not you will may experience errors such as dropping.

My NAS is a Synology and the highest is v3 as of current firmware.
I set mine to lowest v2 and highest to v3 and the thing screams.
Mame loads up faster and with my gigabit network acts as if it is a local drive when using CD's
The end of the year I will be moving to 10GB for the very reason of why not.
