As Zandro states. The only problem with the dat is file name length and therefore how near to your drives root that you store the collection. Also remember that this is a clrmamepro dat and I cannot guarantee compatibilty with other ROM managers.

I think the longest filename is "Handheld Quake [Various] (Angstrem, Elektronika, Nintendo, Game & Watch Compilation - 1981-1992) (Eugene Troitski - v6.1, 20040523) [Setup]" which would leave you about 120 chars for the sub-folders path length.

Hello Connie

First, i thank you a lot for your work, i put your dat on Rommanager site.
Are you going to post your collection "Handheld Remakes (Simulators) (20120915)" on ABEM ?

i'd like to know about your dat on your site :
Nintendo - Game Boy Advance (2817 + x064) CM DAT
is it totally useless now ? (in front of the No-intro dat) or maybe your dat has "special" things ?

The set is torrented here so if anyone wants to distribute it, feel free to - just credit me, the makers and this site.

My old GBA dat was a continuation of the 'scene/No-Intro' releases but became redundant because of the number of hacks that were present therefore making numbering pointless. There are dumps in the dat that arn't in No-Intro anymore but you'll probably have them in GOOD anyway.

I would normally check all my other sources for updates, but I'm too busy.

Madrigals were complete code rewrites, so I figured he'd spent a lot of time making them and wouldn't be updating for some time now. But who knows?
Give me a prod if you notice any future updates though, I tend to be very forgetful.

Hi again Connie

i sent an email to Madrigal himself this morning in order to ask its permission to distribute his work on Emufrance.

here is his answer.

Hi Guillaume,

sorry I can't authorize the distribution of that archive because the information included are wrong.

Example:

> Frog Boaster [IM-33] (Elektronika, Game & Watch Wide Screen - 1989) (MADrigal - v1.01, 20130506).zip

It's MG-33 not IM-33, it's not "Game & Watch Wide Screen"... it's not a Game & Watch... it's a russian game.

> Explorers of Space [MG-13] (Angstrem - 1989) (MADrigal - v1.02, 20130506).zip

It's not by Angstrem, it's Elektronika

> Hippo Teeth [] (VTech, Tooth Sporty Time & Fun - 1982) (MADrigal - v1.06, 20120917).zip

It's not "Tooth Sporty", it's "Sporty".

> Oxota (Fowling) [IM 18] (Elektronika, Game & Watch Wide Screen - 1989) (MADrigal - v1.01, 20120505).zip

It's "Fowling" only, "MG-18", not Game & Watch...

> PuckMan [TKY-7612] (Tomy Electronic, Table Top - 1981) (MADrigal - v2.02, 20010307).zip

It's "Pac Man" by Tomytronic. Not "Table top".

etc...

I found several many many many more mistakes.... :-(

I want people get the games with TRUE and COMPLETE information.

Please remove the files from your archive.  Thanks :-)

Luca

Don't be upset, Connie. Madrigal seems finicky. i asked him if he can say me eventual other mistakes in order to correct the DAT.

Maybe the term "Game & Watch Wide Screen" is confused for Madrigal. what do you mean by "Wide screen" >> not the manufacturer, only the screen type, no ?

> making them and wouldn't be updating for some time now. But who knows?

that's very wrong, i update them from time to time :-)

for example, today i found a few mistakes in a couple of "readme's".  I
fixed them and the new files are on my server now.

it's "dnd" and "wild man jump".

since it's not a fix to the exe, but just to the readme, i don't mention it
on the website - but if you get the game from other servers, you won't find
the correct files, which are on my website only.

sure i know that!  we all do our best.  but i like to offer my fans/players,
all the updated infos and files.  that's something that I alone can
guarantee, not other people - even though I know that Connie has done a
great work in the past :-)

send him my list, it will be very useful to him :-)

and tell connie that dnd and wildmanj have updated "readme" files.

I researched all naming thoroughly from dozens of sites.

Lets take "Explorers of Space [MG-13] (Angstrem - 1989) (MADrigal - v1.02, 20130506)"
Run the game and it has 'Angstrem MG-13. Electronika are Russian and use IM product codes. If you press F4 to view the manual, you will see IM13 code used. My naming is based on the game that was recreated, not a copy of the included manual. Compare with Frog Boaster to see Electronika brand name.

Other naming takes the format Maker, Product line name so Galaxy II [8100] Epoch, Table Top isn't wrong - it's a table top product line game made by Epoch. Also, if you look at the description field in the dat, naming is thoroughly covered in alt manufacturers. eg
   name "Explorers of Space [MG-13] (Angstrem - 1989) (MADrigal - v1.02, 20130506)"
description "Explorers of Space [MG-13] (Angstrem - 1989) aka Explorers of Space [IM-13] (Elektronika, Game & Watch Wide Screen) (MADrigal - v1.02, 20130506)"
I'm also sure that I read 'Game & Watch' was licensed out to manufacturers in other countries to use.

So other than adding missing product codes or tweaking a space here and there in the naming, I won't be applying any of those suggestions.

I'm guessing you've rattled Luca's cage by mentioning the idea of spreading his work.  ::)

For instance, I'm re-writing "Mario Bros." multi-screen.  I'm very busy
these days, but I'm planning to release the new simulator in 7-10 days.
