This is great! Thanks for putting it up here. Do you happen to know if there's a DAT for it?

http://totaldoscollection.org/

The dat is formatted for use with their DOSCenter manager, and doesn't have SHA-1 or MD5, so use at your own risk.

That's just an old or incomplete version of DOSCollection from PD, and the ESA pulled some of their licensed content from it.

I'm rather new to this kind of downloading with NZB.
I have downloaded HelloNZB and it shows me about 60 GB of files, but it doesn't download without a server. Do I need paid access to a Usenet server? Or is there any other way?

Yes paid access is required (I use Giganews here) unless your ISP still offers free access.

I've never tested it before, but on https://free-usenet.com/ seems you can subscribe for a 1 mbit connection for free.
I use UsenetBucket and their Comfort Bucket for 4.95€ / month. Speed is @ 40 mbit.

Pardon my ignorance, but is this an update, or is this all the DOS titles that include #1 - #12 ?

It is the complete collection.  There are no update/transition releases for this collection.

How does this differ from the exoDOS collection?

Well, to summarize this as the creator says:
TDC starts at the beginning of the DOS era, exodos at the end, which is why exodos is much bigger, because of much bigger games.
The aim of TDC is to preserve every single game and some time it may get even bigger than exodos. The creator says, this will already happen with the next release as he is integrating all games from exodos.
As TDC is released every six months I hope we will get this soon :)

Does TDC have different languages, CD and Floppy versions and all this kind of stuff?
eXoDOS is just English?

I think the dat/naming is English based.
However, many games had in menu language selection.

Maybe a suggestion for the TDC team to add lang tags ?

> Does TDC have different languages, CD and Floppy versions and all this kind of stuff?

All languages are welcome in TDC.  If it's a game, and it's for DOS, it goes in TDC!
If a floppy version of a game is different than a CD version of a game, then they both go into TDC.
At this time, TDC is not releasing floppy images or CD images.  Other groups are doing that, so it doesn't add much value to just copy the same files into TDC.
That said, we are gathering floppy and CD images like crazy- that collection just isn't as well organized/named/sorted yet, but someday.

> eXoDOS is just English?

eXo isn't specifically excluding games due to language, I think he's just more inclined to add games that are in english because that's his native language.

> Maybe a suggestion for the TDC team to add lang tags ?
We've had language tags for ten years now, so good suggestion! ;)
take a look at our file lists, you should spot the same language tags that TOSEC uses.

OMG, the last time I played AstroTIT was at my school in 1987 using an old 286 with Hercules Card with an Orange Monitor.

The Art of War......

Was there to learn Turbo C and Cobol just to end up playing games most of the day.

I love it.

GRRRRRRRRRRRR

OK, Using 86Box
Created a hard drive image and installed MSDos 6.22, Turbo C++ just for fun but........

I go to use the Total Dos Images of Kyrandia and all of these archives are files.

ok.....
If there are some of you out there that actually have an old setup with just DOS then more power too you but being that the rest of us use emulators I have run into a snag.

How do I transfer Dos files outside of creating a CD image with the files and mounting that...

Is there a way to create a virtual hard drive out of a directory like in WinUAE?

How do you guys transfer files to your Dosbox, PCem, 86Box, SPCXT outside of mounting images?

Apologies if I'm misunderstanding your problem, but I wouldn't use 86Box to play DOS games, I'd use DOSBox.

Just type, pointing to the folder where you unzipped your game....

Code:
Only registered users can see contents. Please click here to Register or Login.
You can also mount floppy disk images, CD images, or boot images (see also IMGMOUNT, BOOT). Or edit the config file for dosbox to automatically mount that path when it loads, or use third party tools that act as dosbox frontends.

Hope that helps.

I've discovered that Dosbox does mount directories as drives while the other major PC emulator do not that I could find.
There is also no instruction manual for any of this stuff.

What I like about the other ones is that you can change graphics cards and different motherboards.
This way I can go back to an old 8080 with a Hercules card.....

But to just play the games I guess it's Dosbox
Spent all last night working on it but thanks.

The NZB only contains part 303 at the front.
