Title: Connie's DATs
Post by: Connie on November 15, 2012 - 02:49:36
I noticed someone had made a dats folder on the FTP, so I thought I'd join in.

You'll find all? my created dats in the sub folder 'Connie' under  '_Current DATs'.

There are a number that I use just for personal use/checking, but feel free to try them out and pass on your feedback (and request probable fills ;) )

Hi Apache!
I join your reasons and you've all my solidariety. I've was the starter of the TOSEC AMIGA APPLICATIONS DAT and during the new management my credits was deleted (my name was SEA7). When I asked about it on TOSEC forum they said... it's not important". I've chosen to give up renaming right now. I've spent a lot of time and money thinkin' to be helpful and to be part of a community. I was wrong. All my work was forgotten and my name / myself wasn't important.

Hi SEA7. I remember you. The real problem of the TEAM TOSEC was Grendel. Did a lot of injustices. I have nothing against the current members of the TEAM TOSEC also because  many of them don't know anything about what happened in the past. The result is a defeat for all. Because i see that the current project goes very slowly and with extreme confusion. They create only a multitude of low-quality dats committing seemed the usual errors of split files multiple tapes or disks into individual files.

This Is useful....latest dat collections on teh FTP

For ages, I have wanted to sort out my collections, by name of Datfile Creator....here Is the opportunity.

Yoshis are easy.....

Connies...not too bad either...

But I certainly hope, other creators jump on this and also upload their dats....

@ Apache, and SEA7(I remember your name)

As I have told others, MOSTLY THANKLESS BUSINESS THIS......so do It for the love of Roms, and the classic old days...

Trouble Is, some do It for "Prestige Points"................and think Its gonna give them some sort of power, to be a part of some Elite Group...

I do It for the LOVE.......and the fact that one day, Im gonna have the BEST MANCAVE In Australia...Im a BIG KID, see!

To all datters....I APPRECIATE YOUR TIME, PATIENCE, sometimes MONEY, AND ALL OF YOUR WORK!

To all Uploaders.....I APPRECIATE YOUR TIME AND BANDWIDTH!

To all Collectors.....I APPRECIATE YOUR HARD DRIVE SPACE.....Especially when one of mine fails!

Now.......lets get over that crap, and get on with the job..

Its not about EGO, afaiac.

Btw......this was meant to be a PEP TALK......and get all you datters, datting, and uploading to the FTP, so I can download them...and update my sets!

Internet Is VERY BORING, with nothing to do...

And, I dont like seeing you fellas all sad and nostalgic.....lol

Cheers

I would like Main dats, with an associated Patch dat, and I would like ClrMame Pro, Integrated with Xdelta, and all available emulators, for on the fly patching and testing, and playing, and and and and.......

Lol

But yeah Apache........Why not that also....

Single zip, Same game, multiple roms with differing extensions...and a single datfile and single directory, Instead of possibly half a dozen.

Would make things simpler....

Aint gonna happen, unless someone does It themselves, and It becomes popular...........things usually only get harder and more complicated, In "RomWorld"

If It ever happens, maybe Ill even consider t7z, because by then, surely they will have ironed all that out as well...

Cheers

You have already done a similar thing I don't realized.

From your dat Commodore - 64 (merged 20121029000000)

$54 Zipper [PRG][TOSEC].zip
$54 Zipper [T64][TOSEC].zip

1x1 Proportional Charset Converter [D64][TOSEC].zip
1x1 Proportional Charset Converter [LNX][TOSEC].zip
1x1 Proportional Charset Converter [PRG][TOSEC].zip

If you can merge the names into:
$54 Zipper.zip
1x1 Proportional Charset Converter.zip

It would be great

Ok, the next merged DATs will not have [D64,...] but [TOSEC] will not be removed

Nice to see some clarifications by Crashdisk.

Also, things around TOSEC are slower due to real life taking most of our time. Still, everyone knows that the emu fever has generally passed years ago and we don't have the amount of people involved has before, creating a lot of dats. Calling the current work confusing or low quality is a bit unfair, for instance mai and Crashdisk have been doing and amazing work fixing and properly naming lots and lots of dats. The truth is that TNC is complex and in parts incoherent, in addition most of the sets added in the last decade were poorly renamed, create massive dats (with lots of garbage too). We are dealing with that now and trying to fix it, that's why most of the updates mainly renames. It would be way easier to just add tons of unrenamed / nongood sets to our dats and have major updates, such as what happened before. Fortunately that's now what i call a high quality work so we are doing the opposite.

Sorry about the rant, just wanted to point out that quantity and quality are not the same. If you have any suggestions just let us know, even around here (me, Cassiel, Crashdisk, Aral, and others are registered).

Im sorry Connie...

My apologies...

But, I think the guys here are pretty switched on, and they know what the thread Is about, and who started It...

I hope, Its all good.....

Its sometimes hard to stick totally to relevancy, especially with so much going on In the scene, but I am thankful, that most people here are understanding, as some forums are literally hell to post on....deletions of posts and such..

One comes to mind...Kitco Bullion Forums..

I tend to post, like I think/talk.......at the time and as the Idea jumps Into my head..

But, once again....my apologies...

As for everything else......Let common Sense Prevail!

I just collect and share the stuff, so teh cleaner, neater, easier, smaller..........the better!

Cheers

Must admit I love this talk of dat's n the TNC and I shoulder quite a lot of the blame for the TNC as one of the original tosec members I created / contributed to a lot of the spectrum, pc98, x68000 dats (probably quite a few others as well) I really enjoyed the Japanese systems as I can't speak/read a word of it but I was just fascinated by these computers that I'd never experienced in my youth. Based on my work on the dats one guy from either China or Japan sent me several cd's of PC98 software (even had to upgrade my windows so that I could access the files because of the Kanji/katana character sets used in the file names, as well as getting hold of a japanese lzh program to be able to unpack the archives on the disks) but if you want to point your angst at anyone over the TNC I'm happy to stick me head up over the parapet as I did the original draft then worked with Idoru for some time to create the final version that was used for the renaming project. Unfortunately real life and a truly abysmal internet connection got in my way and I pretty much dropped off the net for some time, so much so that by the time I re-appeared Idoru is Gone??? (If any one is still in contact with idoru please let him know I'm still waiting for the Z64 and the collection of edge magazines etc that I paid him £550 for several years ago) as are most of the original TOSEC members. I don't particularly care about credits for the dats I originally created/worked on I'm just glad that TOSEC is still going after all these years. The only thing don't understand is why it hasn't subsumed all the other dat groups out there. I really like Yoshi's work on the Unrenamed dats and would think that they should be an ideal target for TOSEC to work with.

Just as an aside did any of you guys collect the old Arcade dat that supposedly had everything in it can't remember what I called it now but that was just a dump from logiqX's util for identifying roms.

So thanks to all datter's, collectors, and any one that's been kind enough to give me access to their ftp' or ever uploaded anything to usenet. Unfortunately I still have a pretty shitty internet connection (max 120k/sec down n approx 50k/sec up) which probably explains why I'm still d/loading the TRURIP posts that zyxo put on usenet over 110 days ago, also explains where a few requests will come from when I've finished them as it looks like a few have been DMCA'd.

Regards C0llector (or in my TOSEC days "The C0llector")
Title: Re: Connie's DATs
Post by: PandMonium on January 18, 2013 - 00:17:13
Hi C0llector, what's the point in blaming someone for TNC? I don't know exactly its history since the first draft but it has suffered several changes over the years. Thus, my main complains are related to its excessive complexity trying to cover many system-specific stuff. This created cases where the names are ambiguous and it is impossible to fully understand what some info means.

Unfortunately i don't have any contact with idoru, sorry to hear that. He disappeared some years ago without warning at least to me.
Indeed TOSEC is still going, at a slow pace (time is always the main issue) but much more fun and organized than when i first joined it.

... and you still have your name in 16 dats, at least until someone makes a mistake again :P

Just a heads up since I'm only uploading new dats to my Skydrive folders now.

Nintendo - DS (Numbered Patches) (20130205)
The usual shop full of carts redumped from the great members of No-Intro with supporting patch files.

EmuConnie Nintendo VIP Goodies (20130206)
Just bug fixes for non ANSI characters that TorrentZip kept thowing a wobbler on.

Handheld Remakes (Simulators) (20130206)
Iv'e been so busy with GOG and BlackBerry PlayBook stuff (another 30GB to dat yet :( ) that I never had time to check/dat Madrigal's updates from last September! There may well be another few file updates soon because I've just sent him some bug fixes.

Lots of new GOG.com MD5 checking files and other creations over the past few days. Next updates probably at the weekend now when deals are on.

Got to run a few dir2dats on some ex No-Intro stuff, so keep your eye out for these if you wish to collect. Hopefully BBPB updates coming soon too.

That's all from the Enigmatic Connie <<< (some should understand) ;)

Luca has applied my suggested fixes and so here is an updated dat reflecting them.
If you've recently updated, you should only need a few txt files so please don't waste b/w grabbing the entire CD set again ;)

GOG project upto date as of this weekend with what I'm able to dat. Thanks to everyone who has contributed so far!

Thankyou very much Connie...

I am complete on this set, If anyone needs any small fills...

Sorry to be a PITA, but Im still Interested, In those Xdelta patches, If you can possibly find the time.....

Unfortunately, my GoG collection consists of bits n pieces, from older free Torrents, UG, and the former BG, so many of my exes are now needing updates....plus I cannot find the sound/music archives, for most, In the format required.

If I could get the latest file, for one of the smaller ones, I would try myself, but unfortunately, I believe these are only available, on elite private trackers, where you need good bandwidth, or a seedbox, to even compete....

My 35kps upload speed, doesnt really cut It...and I struggle on this site alone, with some of these larger torrents..

Anyway, If I could possibly pressure you to do a small test, as soon as you can, It would be of great Interest, and possibly....hopefully, praying....of some benefit...

I realise the odds are against this, due to file sizes, having tried similar on PSP ages ago, and I know you are very busy, but you never know, unless you give It a go..

Also, surely the "core", of these games, would not update dramatically......we may be pleasantly surprised.

If, hope against hope, It was successful, It may help many others..

I like the md5 method of checking the sets for GoG.....Its a bit hard updating, as I actually have Quikpar Installed, so Im just copying the md5s to the directories and running from there, using that......1x1...lol

Thanks again, Connie..

Cheers

Not going to happen I'm afraid.
Tomb Raider 1+2+3

1.0.0.3 (810,572,198 bytes) > 2.0.0.7 (724,092,112 bytes) = xdelta3 (723,451,781 bytes)

Making patch files is only really effective if both input/output files are the same size. A byte per byte comparisson is what makes it's possible. Take this away, and you're just left with a compression algorithm.

So you have no idea.? Were or were not the coordinator at that time.? Have you checked at the time who created the first dat or in collaboration with others.? I've just published the dats by entering the name of the person you sent them without checking whether he helped rename or worse him copied by others.? I gave you the references objectives. You just answered without objective facts.

Before i start my rant i'm sorry Connie for highjacking your thread even if it is only for 1 post.

/me starts rant.

Cassiel, Pandmonium.....  This is the exact reason why i have said time and time again that names should be removed from dats.  This ego-maniacal bullshit does not help the TOSEC cause one bit and going forward needs to be rectified.  If you want to know which renamers do what keep a spreadsheet...

Grendel regardless of what you have supposed to have done in the past without your vision and drive in the early days TOSEC would not be here now and for that myself and others will always be grateful.

Apache.  The date today is the eleventh of March 2013 not the eleventh of March 2003.  I really think it is time to build a bridge and get over it mate.  If you want to help TOSEC again you are more than welcome but if you want to talk dribble then take your story walking.  Your perfect dats are very high quality and quite frankly TOSEC need more people with your file interrogating and renaming skills.

You talk of having your name omitted from TOSEC dats.  Mate I dumped and renamed thousands of my personal Amiga, C64 and VIC20 disks and tapes in the early days and gave them all to Idoru.  Not once did he credit me in any of the TOSEC dats.  One of the original games i dumped in 2002 http://hol.abime.net/4638 (http://hol.abime.net/4638) only appeared in the March 2012 amiga adf dats, 10 years after giving it to Idoru.  The main thing is Apache that the game has now been preserved and that is far more important than getting your name on a TOSEC dat.

Apache i hope that you can now let this rest for everyones sake, it is not productive and quite frankly is a little childish.

No hard feelings mate.

/me finishes rant

Again sorry Connie for hijacking this thread but i could not let this go on any longer.

actually, in te first 4 or 5 years when i was still able to spend a lot of time on the whole project (because of personal issues i had to almost completely stop around 2004/2005) there were roughly 90 people who were actively searching for new files, renaming them, creating dats, verifying those en doing all the other things that needed to be done to keep the project rolling.
in those times i was running a pretty structured project which was divided in subgroups which each had their own coordinator because it was simply impossible to manage all the info (we then were already working with well over a hundred dats from which roughly 70% were [wip] which meant dozens to hundreds new files per month per dat) by myself.
so no, i have never spent much time on trying to track the activity of 80~90 people who were working on dats because that was the job for the system-coordinators who sent me the dats when they were ready to be released.

Keeping TOSEC going was a 7 days a week job on which i spent about 40~60 hours per week and wasn't just something you could do in a few hours on your friday night off. With TOSEC i was working towards a goal (preventing a part of our cultural herritage to disappear and preserve it for future generations) and with so much to do and so little time i didn't have much time to keep track of trivialities like names in dat headers or which individual renamed which file and should be "credited"

so no, i have absolutely no idea how many dats were "yours" and neither would i be able to tell you the number of dats i started or contributed to myself and to be honest i couldn't give a rat's a55 (well, maybe a teenie-weenie bit ) if my name was completely removed from everything related to the TOSEC project. TOSEC is about the project. not about me, not about panda, not about ido, not about kirkland, not about xnurfz, not about c0llector, not about vax, not about any of the literally hundreds of contributors there have been since i thought up this project in the late '90's.

Since my health didn't allow me anymore to work so much on the project and besides that RealLife(tm) getting in the way, i had to retire from TOSEC and hid myself in the background while people like panda and ido picked up where i had to leave. I assure you though that once it starts to look like the project is coming to a stand still i will come crawling out of my hole and start pushing against the cart again to get things back in motion.
...and that won't be so the world can see how fantastic i am, no, it will be so my youngest daughter will be able to learn and see how our computers evolved and became what they are now.

that's what it should be all about and that's the only thing that's really important when it comes to the TOSEC project.

well, and now it's time to crawl back to my little hide-out again so the kids can continue playing ;D

ps: the first name in a dat header was (still is?) not the name of the person who made/started the dat but the name of the person who coordinated the work done on the files for the system and was the one who could contact me directly if there were problems. that format was introduced back in te days when we were working on an online dat generator (which actually worked pretty well..) which parsed dat info and added that to an online dbase. de first author name in a dat was parsed and would be presented as a link on the site so people who were interested in joining the project or who had found errors could directly contact the coordinator of the system involved without having to figure out for themselves who of the gazillion contributors of the dat they had issues with they had to try to contact....

It's based on Tony's source code entry:

Code:
Only registered users can see contents. Please click here to Register or Login.
I think this is one of the entries that has changed a number of times over the years, and the reason why I added the _02 entry to keep a version which was also so called 'verified'. It's basically ROMs 018 + 019 in various configurations. IIRC, one is the two appended together, the other two interleaved but a difference in that the 'single' ROMs are byte swapped first.

To make it a little less confusing, I've changed the naming to (512k + 512k). Is this a better alternative?

Thanks for pointing it out :)

it says "Blocked: May contain a virus or spyware --- live.com ---..."

I can get around it using Downloadthemall though

Very odd.
I'm currently using 39.0 with only down'em all and Mega extentions/addons with no problems.

Can you try another browser?

I've just changed ISP and their unconfigurable router has forced me to set my prefered DNS servers via my NIC. This has unblocked a lot of sites. Maybe you have a similar issue? Try opendns or google dns IP's.

The UK has yet again recently been hit with a lot of DMCA, etc. take down notices - some of these to file sharing sites.

I'll certainly re-scan my files, but active monitoring for viri has never failed.

What can I say, but G0G, G0G, G0G
...Gotta love Ole G0g!

I Didn't really explain the recent updates, and lack there previously of, but Gee Oh Gee dot com, got persons (fresh out of college IT experts, no doubt) to create/convert all games from 'age old' .DEB or .TAR format into a "luverlay" .SH install format.
I know, I know. Linux users are Feckin' stupid - drag 'n drop, maybe a command line code to run, I dunno! Welllllll, G0G had to help 'em out.

So, a few hundred files later, and I finally get on top of the database updates.

New files online, but warning, updates are already amongst us!.

Title: Re: Connie's DATs
Post by: Connie on September 21, 2015 - 19:02:23
A lot of their updating is down to stupidity and lack of organisation.
If they had sat down and planned their business model correctly from the start - i.e. do we support mac and linux, how do we deal with multiple languages, how do we update and make downloading easy, etc., then over half of these years worth of updates could have been avoided!

Obvious updates like game fixes will always be a constant constraint to a project like this, remaining accurate.
Lets face it, every game released today is just a beta version - 'we', the public/end users are the beta testers - constantly complaining and making bug reports until hey,ho, a patch is released! :)

If it means I don't have to deal with a shitty, invasive 'vulva' Steam platform, then I'll stick with G0G ;)

Thanks Connie, for your hard work..

Simply put, PinMAME is baulked, because those errors shouldn't appear from using '-listxml'.

It still uses <game name=""></game> instead of the newer <machine name=""></machine> too.
I'll try and remember to check for/fix it for the next time new dumps are added.

Thanks for noting the bug though. :)

PinMAME - ROMs (v2.7 r3829) (20160304)
There are a lot of nodumps in the dat, so I've added the nodump header switch. If your ROM manager isn't clrmamepro, you may have to REM/delete the header reference if it errors on loading the dat. Various ROM sets now have 'merge' tags added, so depending how you build/scan your sets, you may have ROMs in your 'backup' folder after this dat scan.

NOTE AS PREVIOUSLY DISCUSSED:
Quote
Family Guy (V7.00) (English, Spanish) and Family Guy (V8.00) (English, Spanish) aren't correct according to MAME and testing. They are reversed.

scarn renamed to scarn105 to match version naming.

acd_168h (AC/DC Limited Edition (V1.68)) uses same crc/hash data as acd_168c (AC/DC Pro (V1.68) (Colored)) but with different file sizes - obviously impossible. Used .diff file from "acdc168_c.zip" to patch. PinballBrowser .pbm file doesn't work - need extended memory option of registered version.

mtl_164h (Metallica Limited Edition (V1.64)) uses same crc/hash data as mtl_164c (Metallica Pro (V1.64) (Colored)) but with different file sizes - obviously impossible and for different tables! Used .diff file from "mtl164_c.zip" to patch. PinballBrowser .pbm file doesn't work - creates different crc. ???

st_161h (Star Trek Limited Edition (V1.61)) uses same crc/hash data as st_161c (Star Trek Pro (V1.61) (Colored)) - not yet investigated due to .pmb only file.
I've created the st_161c ROM using PinballBrowser444 and the .pbm file. Just make sure "Keep CRC consistent" is ticked or you'll end up with a different byte at 0x037AB5D0

PinMAME - ROMs (v2.7 r3829) (20160304)
...
Thanks for the new update and your continued work on this.

Do you still want to hear about stray ampersands in the ROM name and merge  fields?

I noticed these made ROMVault stumble:

stk_sprb\st&s2732.u2
xsandos\x&os2732.u2
xsandosa\x&os2732.u2 (and merge)

These four were the same as those that Obiwantje noticed late last month.

ROMVault also has difficulties when it detects two "sampleof" clauses for the same game.
I just do a global replace of ' sampleof="pinmame" sampleof=' with ' sampleof='.

Not that your .dat files are required to conform to ROMVault's quirks.  Just an FYI.

I also find that bdk_240 and fg_700af still have the issue (as reported here (http://romshepherd.com/index.php/topic,4886.msg57975.html#msg57975)) where the crc is the same as a previous version (r3811), but the sha-1 hashes are different.

Your previous reply to that post made me think the sha-1 hashes in r3811 were correct.  But since most of your updated .dat files since then have had the different hash, perhaps I misunderstood.

I can only assume that the & sign and sampleof issues are problems relating to ROMVault because clrmamepro doesn't have this problem.

Regarding the bdk_240 and fg_700af SHA-1 issues, these are problems in the PinMAME code and I just forgot about editing these again, because they are only detected with clrmamepro when you force a decompress and check hash. My earlier dats were more of a dir2dat method and so generated correct crc/hash values. I've chosen to use an exported dat (and then edit it) because it maintains the parent/clone/merge relationship incase you want to create merge sets instead of split. Also, it has sample support.

Again, all these errors are in the PinMAME code and are simply exported when I run -listxml.
You could try to import the exe directly to see if ROMVault then corrects these &/sampleof errors, but you'll still be left with all the incorrect hash values passed from the C+ code.

Again, the code is outdated and should be using <machine> tags anyway.

Thanks for the response.

ROMVault has no .exe import function, so it's less useful in that area than clrmamepro.

However, ROMVault automatically flags the sha1 mismatches without scanning, as soon as the new .dat file is loaded.  So there are some plusses to it as well as minuses.

CLRMAME ignores errors in what is the XML standard - this is just poor coding, and may even result in CLRMAME pro just ignore the entire line.
Also regarding the "machine tag" this self proclaimed new standard (which can be reversed for dir2dat in CLRMAME pro in the .ini file) is not superseding any existing practice of game name; let's not all declare the work done by Roman on CLRMAME as "holy" ;-)

If you know of bugs in clrmamepro's code and how it incorrectly interprets XML, then why not inform Roman?

I was under the impression that <machine> tags were the new code standard used in MAME - on which PinMAME was originally based - and not 'necessarily' anything to do with ROM managers or their creators?

Title: Re: Connie's DATs

Romvault supports the machine tags since v 2.2.4.

The only problem still existing is the multiple sampleof tags.

RV uses strict XML Parsing. It looks like CMPro has some 'fixes' to address incorrect XML's.

Not a bad idea, but because existing users are used to the way clrmamepro works now, (maybe I'm taking it too far, but) I imagine seeing yet another oddball option ("strict" or "relaxed" XML interpretation) squirreled away on one of the multiple configuration dialogs on clrmamepro...

I believe you are correct, but I can't deny that I have a strong suspicion that pinMAME isn't being kept up to date with mainline MAME's recent (and not so recent) changes.

Connie - Roman is aware - but he uses a different philosophy - he adjusts his code to accept all kinds of bad XML - Which, to me, is the wrong way to go about; as it can not be replicated into other ROM managers. If we DAT creators/connoisseurs just make sure we fix DATs before they spread, then all (most) rom managers should be working.

Awesome work on the GOG DAT, I just began using it to organize my collection, one thing I found, shouldn't the following two directories be renamed?

act_of_war_high_treason --> act_of_war_direct_action
act_of_war_high_treason_copy3 --> act_of_war_high_treason

Do you own the game and are able to verify this?

If not, then you'll find many other unusual folder naming. The dat is meant to represent the file/folder structure used exactly by G0G's servers and how the 'old' G0G.com Downloader would create folders/fetch files.

Updated this week:

GOG.com Games (1331 + 147 + 39) (20160410)
Sorry for the later than usual G0G update, but with the addition of many new German/Russian language versions, plus a larger than 'normal' influx of new games/pre-orders being released, it created over 500GB of new/updated files!

Nintendo - DS (Numbered Patches) (20160410)
Many thanks for the redumps and created patches - you know who you are. :)

PinMAME - ROMs (v2.7 r3855) (20160403)
I dunno how this one will favour with other ROM managers, but I've created it using -listinfo rather than -listxml to create what is essentially a deprecated style dat. clrmamepro imported it with no problems other than naming conflicts.
My usual 'fixes' should have been applied (hopefully I've not missed anything this time), and again, I've added the nodump flag in the header to identify what hasn't been dumped/created.

hello Connie
how do you do with CMpro to update an existing DAT you created please ?

what are exactly the actions to do to update an existing DAT ? For example, what work did you do to update your ancient "Nintendo - DS (Numbered Patches)" to Nintendo - DS (Numbered Patches) (20160508)".
thx
Title: Re: Connie's DATs
Post by: Connie on May 11, 2016 - 12:55:15
It depends on the collection and how lazy I'm feeling. :)

Sometimes I'll just run a dir2dat on the new files and then manually merge them into the last dat, changing dates, etc.
If it's a large update, I'll put the new files in the collection and run a dir2dat of the entire folder.

With clrmamepro:
Profiler > Dir2Dat
Set your tick boxes, Header entries, Souce-Folder, Dat-File, etc.
Then save these settings to a profile > Save...
Store the profile in clrmamepro's sub-folder called dir2dat.

The next time you wish to use these same settings, just click the Load... button.

For new ones:
Right click on a game icon > 'Copy Image Location'
Paste URL into a browser window for game icon in JPEG format.
Delete last 4 characters of URL (usually _196) and refresh for game marquee in JPEG format.
Change .jpg extention in URL to .png and refresh for game marquee in PNG format.

...or of course use whatever downloader scripts you have ;)

EDIT:
I forgot to mention that the dat file is working with 4 sub-folders, each containing all the .png's in extracted format (you gain very little from compression - it's practically a compressed container for .bmp).
Just extract the last sample 7z to for example "GOG.com - Marquess" and point the dat at this 'root' folder.

GOG.com Games, DLC & Extras (1399 + 181) (20160703)
GOG.com Marquees (1799 + 189 + 57 + 55) (20160703)
GOG.com Removed Games, DLC & Extras (55) (20160703)
Nintendo - DS (Numbered Patches) (20160703)

Unless you're an avid G0G collector, and have been doing so since the sites birth, then there will be many games/files/extras, etc. that you will not be able to purchase and/or download. Since entries in the dat for such files renders getting a complete collection almost impossible, I thought it only fair to split out these from the main dat.

It's still a little WIP untill I get confirmation about anything I've missed removing from the main dat. So, if you know of anything like pre-order bonuses, soundtracks, or any other extras that have since been removed from sale, please let me know.

NOTE:
Removed from sale/purchase is not the same as removed from your account. When a publisher requested for example, a soundtrack, to be removed from sale, they were deleted from your account and the game card updated. People obviously complained, and so now they remove the item from 'new' sales, but it remains in your game library for download. This also applies to entirely removed games, e.g. the 55 in the current new dat. So now, all these removed items are in a seperate dat which new collectors may well wish to ignore 'trying' to complete. :)

Only coloured ROM versions that came with a bspatch file should now be in the dat. The remainder are set as nodump until we have the tools or figure out how to create them using .pbm files.

Using clrmamepro, OK to all dat import error messages, and in split format, yields:

All incorrect entries have been fixed.

You can either create the dat by using the exe within the ROM manager (speaking from clrmamepro experience) or generate it manually using
Code:
Only registered users can see contents. Please click here to Register or Login.from a command prompt.

I've put it on my drive for you. :)

Which is fair enough but then you attached a fixdat to your post which usually means you are requesting roms.

just checking with you before mass deletings.......!

Are your DATs compatible with Romvault?

GOG showing massive differences with CMP vs RV....

Apologies if I have overlooked this point elsewhere  ;D

Title: Re: Connie's DATs
Post by: Connie on February 27, 2017 - 15:43:55
I've never used it.
The dat is in a simple deprecated format which all managers should be able to understand.

The only issues you may have are with the header and any 'special' switches/tags like "forcenodump", "serial", etc.

If Romvault is happy to load the dat without errors, then it should work fine.
Maybe another user can comment and help ?

Post by: jiytee on February 27, 2017 - 18:03:33
Thanks for the reply there...
Your DATS do load fine...
Yeah, looks suspiciously like the Zip Headers are giving me the headache...

I rebuilt this partial test with CMP, where the first image shows (under the game 1849) that I am only missing the Gold Edition EXE which would be correct.

However, running Romvault over exactly the same directory it reports all files in cyan as incorrect and wants to jettison these out of the shiny new zips made by CMP
I would have expected, these to all be green if CMP says they are correct?

Just as well I tested first - could have been a disaster for me.
Title: Re: Connie's DATs
Post by: Connie on February 27, 2017 - 19:59:44
The dat is designed to scan folders, rather than archives. This is why I added "forcepacking unzip" in the header for clrmamepro. Maybe this is why you are getting different results?

It's not worth the time and effort to archive .exe/.pkg/.sh/, etc files, and the extras are already zipped.
If you can rebuild without adding to zip, etc., then this will be much quicker.

EDIT:
Unless you got the files directly from G0G, then CRC/hash may not match, especially if the extras (zip) files have been messed with.

I'll have a play around in due course just for the sake of curiosity.....

No worries though, CMpro will be my 'rommer of choice' on your DATs...

Thanks again.

Appreciated your work by the way..... ;D

Are the speak and spell versions going to stay as the 1 January 2017 rather than the current month as it is impossible to download that version from the site unless you already have it.

Totally agree, especially the manual file which seems to change just one file because of the date, just missing those as obviously that site has now moved onto March

Unless someone has the January files for speak and spell you won't be able to get them from the site as that is already updated to March as they change every month.

I think I know the answer to this, but here goes! (you never know!)

Is there any way, or any DAT that anyone has that would allow the rebuilding of the goodies zips?

I have 1,000s of jpgs, bmps & PDFs for these goodies but I cant seem to zip them up and get them to match the Connies DATS.

Any ideas greatly appreciated. :D

There's a post in the forums were I explain why extras cannot be matched and rebuilt.

GOG.com Games, DLC & Extras (1642 + 287) (20170402)
Finally got to update. Lots of windows updates so that they work with their client Galaxy. Still a few things to sort - e.g. the dat has an extra game entry and current md5 counts don't match.

·Sets                 2126 (+24)

·Bytes                5520gb (+54)

GOG.com Marquees (1994 + 297 + 58 + 79) (20170402)
I think this should now be up to date other than what may have been changed in the last 2/3 months.

GOG.com Removed Games, DLC & Extras (127) (20170402)
Another pre-order added and various updated.

Nintendo - DS (Numbered Patches) (20170402)
A few added.

Before anything else, I would like to extend a massive thanks to Connie.
I recently decided to maintain my GOG collection and re-download changed files after about 3 years of ignoring it. Needless to say, the dats are lifesaving! Thank you for making them available, Connie!  :)

I also just bought a couple of games in the Star Wars sale and spotted something weird in the dats.
Star Wars Jedi Knight - Dark Forces II is getting the folder name star_wars_republic_commando_copy3
Star Wars Jedi Knight - Dark Forces II - Mysteries of the Sith is getting the folder name star_wars_jedi_knight_dark_forces_ii_copy3.
These are obviously wrong. Is this an error on GOG side? I see the Excel file has this as GOG download folder name.
Title: Re: Connie's DATs
Post by: Connie on May 07, 2017 - 20:03:12
Thanks for the compliment :)

All folder naming 'should' be identical to how it would download if you used their downloader program.
With the arrival of Galaxy, people wanted an easier, more flexible way to download their files.

If you don't use Galaxy (I call it GOG's spyware), then I suggest using firefox with greasemonkey and load the scripts from the forum called 'Adalia Fundamentals' and 'Barefoot Essentials for GOG.com'

With these, you will get direct link access to all files in your library. From here, you can hover over the link and 'see' the sub-folder that the file would download too, ie, the remote GOG root folder where the file will come from.
GOG do change their 'root' folder names from time to time, so maybe you can verify your links? With the script extentions, you can also use DownEmAll to grab files.

Whenever GOG use '_copy' or '_copy3' instead of something you and I would call 'logical', it's usually when a GOG game is split out into separate games and therefore a folder for each.
In your case however, I'm not sure.

Sometimes '_game' is added to the gamecard name for the folder name. This is usually when it was a pre-order and on release they decided to be greedy and add extras like a soundtrack as a separate sale.
So you would get 'gamecardname_game' for the game files, and  'gamecardname_soundtrack' for an OST extra.

Gog DAT is severely outdated. And to be honest, i'm seeing gog exe in torrents with the same name as the july DAT that nevertheless have different names... suspicious. If i was paranoid, i'd suspect a chinese trojan using gog execs. Anyway Kult : Heretic kingdoms is one:

local:
md5sum *
4a2a44a7246e04bd5df0aff75cedba54  setup_heretic_kingdoms_1.5_(12276)-1.bin
2d5297a777a93d9894497dc43daa8173  setup_heretic_kingdoms_1.5_(12276).exe

dat:

setup_heretic_kingdoms_1.5_(12276)-1.bin 554724f4420450724443d1ea24c47619
setup_heretic_kingdoms_1.5_(12276).exe b8d776507b0f27cf6c3d724a0d0af8f7

suspicious as all hell, unless gog is in the habit of changing the games without changing the version.

After the loss of 4 drives over the past 2 months, I've managed to juggle some disk space and get some backup collections restored and completed.
Time for a few dat updates.

DEmul v0.7 (Oct 12 2017) [XML] - I'd made it for myself, so I may aswell share it.

Nintendo - DS (Patches) (20180109) - as per No-Intros redump patch fixes. Let me know what I'm missing in my shared folder - I hate OneDrive Sync :(

PinMAME (SAM Build) v3.0 (Dec 24 2017) [DEP] - Get the new 'color' ROM patches and patcher from here > http://vpuniverse.com/forums/files/category/84-pin2dmd-files/
If you don't want to see lots of nodumps - for the current missing undumped tables and wrong color ROM crc/hash that don't exist, then edit the dat and change the following header line:

Nostalgia (Mattel Intellivision Emulator) v5.0 (20180213) [DEP]

I don't know if I missed some dumps from my last creation, but I've added those and the 4 firmware/BIOS that you need for the emulators.
There are 3 nodumps because the Nostalgia database has crc's, but no size, so it's worth hunting for these so that I can add correct data values.

There are basically 2 dump formats - .bin and .rom (always larger than .bin). You can use bin2rom and rom2bin to convert between them.
To start your ROM hunt, rebuild from TOSEC, GoodINTV, NonGoodINTV, MAME intv.xml

EDIT:
Seems I started with an outdated dat due to my HDD losses.

Check this thread for dumps http://romshepherd.com/index.php/topic,3492.0.html

I've applied the size fixes that games.ndb reported incorrectly (CRCs matched) and REMed out some additions until I find their source.
On first run, Nostalgia creates 315 entries + 4 BIOS that I added = 319

Could you put the patches in folders of 1000? jdownloader only recognizes the first 1000 files of a folder.

Well the idea is to sort by date and just tick the ones you're missing.

OneDrive is kinda like MEGA.
You can tick files to download individually, or tick them to download as one archive.

You aren't meant to rape the folder every update ;)

If you want the entire collection, just ask :)

Surely you're joking! Checking hundreds of files?!

Well it's simple if you just select 'skip file' under "If the file already exists" in jdownloader ;)

You think I change hundreds of files on a weekly basis?

No-Intro members might average a re-dump 1 a day.

Why don't you learn what it is you are collecting?
Then learn how to use your browser and add-ons.

For the Humble Bundle, seems pack "0006 - The Humble Voxatron Debut" received some update that are not reflected in the DAT (i.e. Voxatron -> 0.3.4)

I'm going through all packs at the moment to cross check.

I just highlight this as I saw you updated this year the DAT file :-)

Better late than never :)

PinMAME (SAM Build) v3.1 (Mar 15 2018) r4486 [DEP]
Lots of name changes, some more new dumps, and I nodumped another colored ROM that we no longer have a patch for. This also goes for the recently added colored dumps with fake data values.

EDIT:
I think I forgot to mention this with my last dat, but to fix split/merge options, I renamed two ROMs with 'fp' for free play, otherwise you'll get a name/crc clash.

WinUAE Firmware & ROM Set v3.6.1 (2018.03.04) [DEP]
Matching official release with the recent two new dumps.

I made some myself.

I like to use "xdelta3.exe -9 -A -e -s" which utilises 'disable application header'. It makes patches smaller and unique by removing personal data (the creators file names used).
No-Intro (hordes of ninjas) mainly doesn't use this format.

One day I'll get around to fixing them all? ;)

G0G is a pay for game service, just like Steam, etc.

Any dats posted by myself or others, are based purely on their personal collections. By merging/comparing the dats from various sources, I set a 'latest' dat, and of course what was removed (to a dat).
Buy the game, supply the info, it gets datted.

New is never Free.

Title: Re: Connie's DATs
Post by: Connie on May 08, 2018 - 22:06:59
You could write a macro to clean up/convert the supplied 'Games.xml' or what I did was get the ROM set names of the 48 listed games and make a dat file via MAME using

Code:
Only registered users can see contents. Please click here to Register or Login. ...from the model3.cpp

DEP, as already discussed in the forums, is Deprecated. The 'original' format for dat files which clrmamepro would create and can use before xml was prefered.
Compare the two dats in a text editor and you can see that DEP is much easier to read/edit.

Title: Re: Connie's DATs
Post by: Connie on May 23, 2018 - 22:07:51
Now online for you anal switch collectors ;)
Nintendo - Nintendo Switch (0117) (20180523) [DEP]
Nintendo - Nintendo Switch (0117) (20180523) [XML]

The dat format is as follows:
All entries are numbered to reflect scene release order.
Archive (name field) and xci dump (rom field) file naming is based on No-Intro.
Description (description field) is the scene folder name with the nfo/split RAR name in brackets.
I've used the sourcefile field to store the game card serial.
The year field holds all the various game release dates. So a World release may have at least 4, even eShop and card release dates can be different.
Also used is the manufacturer field which uses the format "Developer / Publisher / Publisher, etc".
Lastly, as well as the usual CRC32/md5/sha1, the date field can be found at the end of the 'rom field' line. This is the date/time stamp of the actual xci file, hence when it was created (and strictly speaking, it's release order to the scene).

117 releases are datted (116 xci, 1 nsp)
Naming and languages are taken from Nintendo sites where possible. NFO's and various game sites provided additional info.

I've been over the dat with a few searches to fix bugs, but of course, I'm only human and need your help with verifing.
I also welcome any suggestions :)

Thanks to the dumpers, sharers, carers and uploaders!
Title: Re: Connie's DATs
Post by: Connie on May 23, 2018 - 22:18:34
EDIT:
I forgot to add, I've added Japanese/Korean titles in brackets after the English/Romanji naming. [ ]
The dat is in UTF8 format, so if you see unusual characters, ? ? ? ? ? ?, etc., then you need to add ASIAN language support to your OS/text editor.

Main differences are some additional language names, the date/time flag and some language differences which will have to be verified later - I based mine on what the Nintendo site lists.

So, while I've time, it's weekend, and jimmsu is always on the ball with D-O-M updates anyway, I've updated mine with some more Cartridge serials.
I'm not sure about D-o-M's recent eShop change for 0089 - Yooka-Laylee. ?
A card dump 'should' be the same as a digital download - these are far rom DLC downloads.
It's still early days with any of these releases, but I don't consider it an eShop release.

@ conny
I have severeal gog archives and chaos and a waste of a lot of space in HDs :-(
It is possible to make a dat with all different setup*.exe from each game, exists over the time ?
I have a lot of complete sets with "older" Setup and when rebuilding with clrmame,
the old setup*.exe remains  in my source file and in the destination, only the files like wallpaper, manuals, but no setup in destination file.

thanks

Simple answer, No.

Setups are updated on weekly/monthly basis depending on bug fixes, how new the game is, etc.
To keep all revisions would require 100'sTB of storage in order to dat them and I've no idea where you would start to find them.

If you have newer versions, just keep them and delete the old because my dat is way outdated now.

If people just let me know about updates, I'll get around to datting them.

I'm usually busy with other stuff to keep on top of things.
I'll try and get it done this weekend - thx for letting me know :)

Finally moved from Windows 7 to 10 and spent the past week finding my way around and reloading my apps.

PinMAME (SAM Build) v3.2 r4614 (Aug 5 2018) (20180815) [DEP & XML]
Brought to latest version and added the 2 new coloured ROMs as well as previous ones that can be made from the downloadable .diff patches. Since patches are available, it made sense to have them datted.
The 'nodump' flag is still added to the entries with no unique Size/CRC/Hash values i.e. no patch available ??

With nodumps:
Quote
Missing
·Sets                 14/2487
·ROMs                 63/11267
·Samples              18/22644
·Bytes                658mb/19gb

WinUAE Firmware & ROM Set v4.0.1 (2018.07.16) (20180815) [DEP & XML]
I'm unsure of the version, so I've added the dat date at the end.
Added the new dump infos to match the source code.

Missing
·Sets                 3/238
·ROMs                 7/718
·Bytes                640kb/72mb
